There are two absolute quality mixes this edition.  I find myself just going back and forth between each one all day long.

Blockhead - BTTB mix

I don't have a track list for this but I do not apologize.  This mix is a super eclectic mix of off cheek remixes and smooth jazzy hip-hop beats.  The beats pop and flow so effortlessly throughout the entire mix and an imaginative and surprising use of a wide span of instruments and sounds continually brings a smile to my face throughout the entire listen.  This music is fantastic sunny afternoon music.  I think the "Brown Glory" song that plays at 25:00 is particularly beautiful.

Ramadanman - Applepips Podcast

This mix is just strait up awesome in everyway.  It's chocked full exciting future beats dripping with warm (crawl inside the speaker) bass.  Ramadanman has mastered the art of flowing back and forth between house, techno and dubstep without missing a beat.  Pulsating rhythms and percussion give this music a strong chugging feeling that really gets you anticipating the banging dubstep that takes the set out.  If anyone is looking for a good representation of my favorite style of music, this set sums it up pretty well.

Bits and Pieces

Hello!!

Trust me, I know this has taken far to long but I finally have some new music for you. I'm done with the 'bio' format and am instead going to feture a handful of artists and mixes. This is all music that I find most inspiring. I am trying to find music that stands out from any sort of deffination but instead moves from sound to sound and emotion to emotion.

 Scuba

This mix is absolutly amazing, I have personally renamed it "are we in Berlin?". It perfectly demonstrates the love affair going on right now between dubstep and techno. It's dripping with wonderfully dark and deep sounds that are continuelly catching me off gaurd. Crazy rythems and interesting vocal samples, I epescially like the creepy "up to keelon" guy who comes in around 06:00. The entire set has such a smooth and silky flow to it; Scuba moves seemlessly through multiple bpm ranges and styles while staying in that classic dark Berlin sound.

1. Millie & Andrea – Gunshot (Daphne)

 02. Do Not Resist The Beat! (white)

03. Gowentgone – Love and Respect (Vidab)

Joker - Purple Wow (Studio mix)

Joker is the bridge between Bristol dubstep and the sounds and rythems of U.S. hip hop. His beats pop and flow along with a much brighter feel that is not at all charecteristic of UK dubstep. It leaves behind the dark grimey vibes and replaces them with electrifying synths and catchy melodies that are border line pop at times. I selected this mix because it showcases Joker by himself but his music lends its self to vocals and MC's better then most. This is serious smile music. Throw it on and bounce away, you won't regret it.

Gaslamp Killer!! - Low End Theory podcast

This guy is a fucking madman!  He makes it a mission to slam as much stuff together into sets as possible.  It is like listening to the crazy ramblings of a 4:30 in the morning bum with split personalities blasting out the speakers in crazy electronic beats.  If you are one for long, drawn out sets then this might not be a mix for you.  But, if you can get down on some in your face mixing and rapid fire track selection then check this mix out now!  *** and listen for the "Hair" sample 15 minutes in***

Be sure to check out all of the other Low End Theory podcast as well.  Each one is full of some really interesting music.

Phaeleh

Took me a while to get this one out, but trust me, It's a good one.

Phaeleh.

I have completely fallen in love with this Bristol based artist in a matter of two weeks. I first heard about him from the Electronic Exploration radio show but didn't really give him much notice. It took me a few weeks until I ventured back and gave him another listen. Man am I glad I did.

Phaeleh (fella) produces smooth and warm songs, filled with lush and intricate atmospheres. He started in electronic music with drum and bass and jungle but has moved on to an extremely individual and unique style of music all to his own. He layers extremely intricate and deceivingly simple rhythms over each other to create tracks that are very hard to pin down. My first listen had me thinking these were down tempo with a nice taste of dub bass. After three or four listens I started to hear more underneath the seemingly chilled out exterior. Phaeleh is producer who plays out moods or 'vibes' rather then trying to create hits or bangers. His music is much better judged after a full hour and a half set rather then one or two tracks. Energy builds slowly and quietly until all of a sudden you are rockin along out of nowhere. Everything just fits together so well and so effortlessly.

I really like this and hope you will to.

Hessle Audio

Hessle Audio has single handedly changed my musical outlook in the end of 2008. The style of music that this label puts out is extremely intelligent and unique. Taking notes from dubstep, techno, minimal and IDM, these songs are able to run you through a huge range of emotions in a single set. All of them are top notch productions.

This Leeds based label is run by long time friends Ramadanman, Pangaea, and Ben UFO. The catalog consists of extremely forward thinking releases from the above mentioned as well as TRG, Martyn, and Untold.

Ramadanman - Blimey

Pangaea - Coiled
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHViXbK8zCA
Untold - Kingdom
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-Z6qGvEm9A

One of the main reasons I like these guys so much are the sounds that they make. This isn't your usual wobble wobble saw-tooth bass lines or hand swatting snares. These records are filled with new and interesting sounds that always seem to lock up my imagination with the music. Long slow bass lines flow through songs like a warm comforter blanket pulled up on a cold night while intricate melodies form overhead from a multitude of techy chimes, cymbals, bells and tins. This music might not own the dance floor like so much other dubstep does, but, its pure musicality is undeniable. In my opinion, this is one of the best things happening in electronic today.
